NOVUS Brings New Dairy Solutions to Australia and New Zealand
NORTH SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES (Nov. 20, 2024) – Dairy farmers and nutritionists in Australia and New Zealand have new options to improve milk and component yields, maximize income over feed costs, and optimize reproductive performance and animal welfare. NOVUS is expanding its nutritional feed solutions and expertise to the dairy industry in this area of Oceania.
“The dairy industry in Australia and New Zealand is an optimal partner for NOVUS because our intelligent nutrition solutions can truly make a difference in profitability and production there,” says Ricardo Teles, global ruminant marketing manager at NOVUS. “We have the products and expertise to help dairy farmers wanting to improve fat and protein yield while keeping their cows healthy and in service for as long as possible.”
Products available in the Australian and New Zealand markets include
- MFP® Feed Supplement– a dry, nitrogen-free source of methionine created with hydroxy analogue of methionine (HMTBa). MFP® aids in reducing the incidence and severity of milk fat depression, optimizes protein production and enhances milk component yield. MFP® is a dry, granular, cherry-flavored amino acid source ideal for premixes and feed mills.
- MINTREX® Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals– bonds organic zinc, copper, or manganese to methionine source HMTBa (found in MFP® Feed Supplement) in a two-for-one solution that supports reproductive performance, hoof health, and milk component production.
- ZORIEN® SeY 3000 Prilled Yeast Feed Additive– a strain of yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, enriched with selenium in the organic form to offer a higher absorption rate. Used in complete feeds, this product helps optimize animal health.
“MFP® Feed Supplement is an efficient amino acid source shown to maximize milk and component yields, particularly for grazing herds and in times of challenge, like when dealing with milk fat depression, which typically occurs between winter and early spring, or heat stress – an obvious problem during summer,” says Andrew Schmetzer, NOVUS sales manager for Australia.
Schmetzer says MINTREX® Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals offer an organic source of zinc, copper, or manganese along with the benefit of methionine source HMTBa that makes the mineral more available and absorbable, allowing farmers to use less in the ration.
“MINTREX® supports fertility, hoof health, and immune system health and the cows also get a measurable amount of methionine that can be reduced elsewhere,” he says.
He says Zorien® SeY 3000 Prilled Yeast Feed Additive gives cows the selenium necessary for health, growth, and fertility that they cannot synthesize naturally. Along with providing trace mineral nutrition, this additive helps stimulate a cow’s natural defenses, supporting health, particularly during the transition stage and times of stress.
Schmetzer says factors like drought, forage quality, and commodity prices that are out of a farmer’s control don’t have to mean big losses for the farm.
“Feed additives with integrity provide an opportunity to optimize the nutritional value of the herd’s ration, and enhance herd performance and profitability,” he says. “Our products are backed by science and supported by a global dairy team who can offer different perspectives and insights from dairy farmers around the world. NOVUS wants to partner with the dairy industry in Australia and New Zealand. Let’s see what we can do together.”
